At Top Gun Golden Retrievers, we are a small, family-based breeding program located in Arizona. We proudly focus on quality over quantity, and everything we do centers around producing golden retrievers with sound health, exceptional temperaments, and true golden personalities.

Why We Created the Guardian Program

Today, there are far too many golden retrievers that are reactive, aggressive, or fearful—traits that are not representative of what this breed is meant to be. We believe this is largely due to lack of proper socialization during the crucial early developmental window.

Our puppies are raised very differently. From just a few days old, they are nurtured, desensitized, trained, and exposed to the world in a way that helps them grow into confident, calm, kind, and brave companions. We train not just for behavior—but for a lifetime of partnership.

Due to our high standards, we retire more dogs than we breed. That’s how our Guardian Program came to be: a way to give our dogs the love and attention they deserve while continuing to build the next generation of golden excellence.

How the Guardian Program Works

We select a promising puppy that shows the traits we value most for our breeding program. From there, we search for a guardian home—a family who will raise, love, and care for that puppy as their own.

What You Receive as a Guardian Family:

• You do not pay for the puppy.

• You care for and raise the puppy in your home as your family pet.

• When the dog turns two years old, we begin health testing.

• If the dog does not meet our breeding criteria, they are retired and fully signed over to you.

• If the dog does pass testing, we will work with you to select a suitable time for breeding.

Guardian Litter Compensation

If your guardian girl has a successful litter of 4 or more live puppies, you’ll receive:

• 💰 $2,500 for the first litter

• 💰 $3,500 for the second litter

• 💰 $5,500 for the third and final litter

This is our way of thanking you for being such a vital part of our program and for giving our girls an amazing home.

Additional Options

In some cases, we offer a buyout option for select dogs or litters, depending on the situation.
